Findom tasks and findom menus, explained

Findom tasks are instructions a financial dominant gives her submissive, often with a money penalty for failure. A findom menu is her price list: so much to message her, so much for a game, so much for a call. Neither term has a dictionary definition, but both are everywhere in the scene. This page explains how tasks and menus work in practice, with real examples from press reports, what payment platforms allow, why debt contracts are only play, and how to set a budget before any of it starts.

What findom tasks are

In findom, tasks do two jobs: they give the dynamic something to do between tributes, and they give the dominant a reason to charge. A findomme quoted by Vice in 2013 described setting a sub weight-loss goals, embarrassing photos such as being in drag, and chastity, and said she penalised him financially for any failed tasks. BuzzFeed News reported in 2022 that long-term findom can become a kind of behaviour modification, with some dommes pushing their subs to ask for raises.

Some tasks are standing rules rather than one-offs. The same Vice findomme had her sub report to her by email every day, detail any purchases and ask before withdrawing savings, and she set him a budget he had to follow exactly. For a certain kind of submissive, having someone else hold the purse strings is the whole appeal. Our page on what findom is explains why.

Findom task ideas

Good findom tasks keep the thrill of control without endangering anyone's finances:

Avoid anything that cuts essentials. Vice's 2013 piece described a domme halving a sub's food spending; that's not a model to follow. Tasks should make a submissive's life feel more controlled, not less secure. Our page on femdom tasks has more non-financial ideas.

What a findom menu is

A findom menu turns the scene's rituals into set prices. MEL Magazine described the range in 2018: regular payments of $10 to $20 like clockwork, silent tributes of $100 to $200 with no message expected, and rinsing sessions running up to $2,000. Games appear on menus too; MEL reported a wheel game with a $15 entry fee and $3 a spin, and debt contracts that required a $30 application fee. Gizmodo reported in 2019 that interactions on Twitter ranged from $30 to more than $1,000, with in-person meetings around $500 to $1,000. Business Insider described a $15 tribute fee just to send a message.

There's no standard rate, and menus vary from playful to outrageous by design. A menu is an invitation, never an obligation, and the best findommes are the first to say so. For the meaning of the word that sits at the top of every menu, see our page on tribute meaning.

Where you pay matters as much as how much. Throne, the wish-list service popular with creators, is explicit: everything on a wishlist must be a gift, and Throne can't be used to exchange goods or services. Cash gifts can't be used for adult services, tips or donations, profiles may not offer content or services in exchange for gifts, and breaking the rules can lead to account suspension. Throne charges a 9.75% fee on cash gifts, and gifts aren't refundable once ordered, although it says a creator promising something in return breaks its terms. In other words, a gift X, get Y menu doesn't belong on Throne.

Cam sites are the cleaner option: priced shows and tips stay inside the platform, the performer is verified, and the price is clear before you start. Our findom scams guide covers the other payment services and their restrictions.

Debt contracts are play

Some menus include debt contracts, where a sub agrees to owe a findomme money over time. They can be thrilling as a fantasy, but they're not legal agreements; BDSM contracts of every kind aren't binding. If anyone ever tries to enforce one with real threats, such as exposing your identity, that's blackmail, which carries up to 14 years in the UK, and it should be reported rather than paid.

Budget first, every time

The US Federal Trade Commission's budgeting advice is simple: make a list of your bills and other expenses, then subtract them from what you earn in a month. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau offers free income and spending trackers, a bill calendar and a budget worksheet, and adds that it helps to have an end goal. In the UK, Citizens Advice reminds you to include all your expenses and points to a free budget planner. Only then decide what share of what's left can go to findom.

Sensible subs do this already. One told the psychologist Mark Griffiths that he really does budget, spending about $5,000 a year on his goddess. Sensible findommes check too: one told MEL she never takes anyone's whole paycheck and assesses income, bills and circumstances first, and another told BuzzFeed that leaving a sub unable to pay his bills is a level she doesn't agree with morally.

When it stops being fun

Griffiths has noted that in a minority of cases findom resembles problem gambling. Warning signs include chasing the next send, hiding spending, borrowing to pay tributes, or feeling unable to stop. If that's you, stop sending, tell someone you trust, and get free debt advice from Citizens Advice or StepChange in the UK, or a non-profit credit counsellor in the US. A real findomme wants a sub who can keep giving for years, not one who's ruined in a month.

Findom tasks on cam

Cam sessions suit findom tasks well: she sets the task, you report back next time, and every payment stays inside the site's credits. Set your budget before you log in. The strip at the top of this page shows findommes and goddesses live now, and our page on paypigs covers the giving side of the dynamic.

Quick answers

What are findom tasks?

Instructions a financial dominant gives her submissive, often with a money penalty for failure: daily spending reports, logging purchases, keeping to a budget she sets, fitness goals or other assignments.

What is a findom menu?

A price list a findomme publishes for tributes, games and contact: so much to message her, so much for a game, so much for a call. It turns findom's rituals into set prices.

How much do findom menus charge?

There's no standard. Examples in the press range from $3 a spin in a wheel game and $15 to message, to $100 to $200 silent tributes and four-figure sends. Treat any menu as an invitation, not an obligation.

Can a findom menu run through Throne?

No. Throne's rules say wish-list items must be gifts, that cash gifts can't be used for adult services, and that profiles can't offer content or services in exchange for gifts.

Are findom debt contracts legally binding?

No. Like other BDSM contracts, a findom debt contract is play, not a legal agreement. A real demand for money backed by threats is blackmail, not a contract.

How do I set a findom budget?

List your income and every bill and expense, subtract them, and decide what part of what's left you can give without regret. Write the figure down before any scene, and never go above it in the moment.

Should a findomme know my income?

Some ask, so they can keep demands within what you can afford; one findomme told MEL she assesses income, bills and circumstances before taking anyone on. Share only what you're comfortable with, and never share banking logins or passwords.

What happens if I fail a findom task?

Usually a pre-agreed penalty, often a set payment. Agree every penalty before you start, keep penalties inside your budget, and remember you can end the arrangement whenever you choose.
