Sissy training: what a sissy is and how sissification works
Mistresses for sissy training, live now
See allSissy training, also called sissification, is a consensual femdom role play in which a submissive man is feminized by a dominant woman: dressed in lingerie, made up, taught to walk and speak a certain way, and often teased about all of it. In everyday English "sissy" is an old insult; in kink it's a role, chosen and enjoyed. This page explains what the word means, what training involves, how to tell a kink from a gender identity, and how it works with a mistress on cam.
What a sissy is
The word has a long and not very kind history. Etymonline dates it to 1768 as a pet form of sister, and records the sense of an effeminate man by 1873. By the 1930s, Wikipedia notes, it was among the worst insults in American football. Some men began reclaiming it in the late 1980s, and younger people now often use femboy instead for a man who enjoys a feminine look without any kink attached.
In femdom, sissy is the name of a role. Wikipedia's article on feminization as a sexual activity describes a submissive man taking a feminine role, including cross-dressing in lingerie, makeup, jewellery and perfume, and notes that the "forced" framing common in the genre is a fantasy agreed by everyone involved. The insult is part of the appeal: being called a sissy by a dominant woman is a small, deliberate humiliation he has asked for.
What sissy training involves
There's no fixed curriculum, but most sissy training draws on the same handful of elements:
- Clothing. Lingerie first, often worn secretly under ordinary clothes, then stockings, dresses or a uniform.
- Makeup and grooming. Learning to apply it properly, on her instructions and to her standard.
- Manners and posture. How to sit, walk, speak and address her, with corrections when he gets it wrong.
- Service. The sissy maid scenario, in which he serves in a maid's uniform, is one of the most common.
- Tasks. Assignments between sessions: wearing something for a day, practising a skill, reporting back.
- Teasing. Commentary on how pretty, or how hopeless, he looks, which is where sissy training meets humiliation.
The balance varies hugely. For some, sissification is mostly affectionate dress-up with a firm hand. For others it's intensely humiliating. Both are valid, and the difference has to be agreed before the first session, not discovered during it.

A kink, not a gender identity
This is the most important section on the page. Sissy kink is a fantasy, most often enjoyed by cisgender men who are comfortable being men. The American Psychological Association notes that people who cross-dress are usually comfortable with the sex they were assigned, and that cross-dressing isn't necessarily erotic and says nothing about sexual orientation. GLAAD's guidance is blunt on the other side of the line: transgender women are not cross-dressers, and words like "she-male" and "trap" are defamatory.
So keep two things apart. Enjoying being feminized as play says nothing about who you are outside it. And if exploring femininity ever stirs something deeper, real questions about your gender, that's a separate and serious thing that deserves its own space, outside any kink scene, with people who can help. Only you can say how you identify. Nobody, including a mistress, gets to decide that for you.
How common is it?
More common than its niche reputation suggests. A Swedish study of 2,450 randomly selected adults, published in 2005, found that 2.8% of men and 0.4% of women reported at least one episode of arousal from cross-dressing. In Justin Lehmiller's survey of more than 4,000 Americans, men were more likely than women to report gender-bending fantasies such as cross-dressing. And a 2012 study of professional dominatrices, as summarised on Wikipedia, found that about a third of 305 clients were interested in being made to cross-dress.
It isn't a disorder either. The DSM-5 only considers cross-dressing a clinical issue when it causes significant distress or impairment, and the World Health Organization's working group recommended removing fetishistic transvestism from the ICD altogether.
The sissy test
Sissy tests are online quizzes that score you on a scale from sissy to stud, usually through questions about hobbies, clothes and assertiveness. They're entertainment, and their makers say so: one popular quiz states that its questions aren't backed by scientific research, and another calls itself a self-reflection tool. Your result means about as much as a horoscope. If you want a more useful self-check, our guide to kink lists will tell you more about what you'd actually enjoy.
Sissy panties and lingerie for men
Sissy panties aren't a defined product, just the kink's name for lingerie a man wears as part of the role. Women's lingerie often fits badly, which is why lingerie designed for male bodies exists. MEL Magazine traced the business back to 1992, when a couple launched Apres Noir, later XDress, and found their typical customers were straight, married men; an Australian brand, HommeMystere, founded in 2009, had sold more than a million dollars of lingerie in over 30 countries by the time MEL wrote about it. Buy privately, check the sizing guide, and keep the packaging discreet if that matters to you.
Starting out, gently
The fantasy is often dramatic; the best first steps are small. Many people begin with one private item, like a pair of panties worn under ordinary clothes for a day, and notice how it feels. Others start with a single conversation with a partner, or a single short session with a mistress who knows they're new. Either way, pay attention to the feeling afterwards as much as during. If it left you lighter and amused, you'll want more. If it left you uneasy, that's information too, and it's fine to stop.
If you have a partner, choose your moment and your words carefully. "I'd like you to dress me up and tease me about it" is easier to hear than a list of everything you've ever imagined. Share the fun version first. The deeper details can follow once you know how it lands.
Sissy training with a mistress on cam
Cam sites suit sissy training well, because so much of it is instruction and inspection of things you can show without showing your face: an outfit, a manicure, a makeup attempt, a task completed. A typical private might open with a reveal of what you're wearing, move to corrections and teasing, and end with homework for next time.
Few performers list it by name. In our 5 October 2026 snapshot of 31 dominant performers, four listed sissification, while 30 listed humiliation and 13 listed role play, so the strip above includes all three. Ask in free chat; many mistresses enjoy it and simply don't advertise it. Mention what you'll be wearing and how far you'd like the teasing to go, so she can plan the session rather than improvise it. Agree your limits first, including which words are welcome and which aren't, and use the limits and safewords guide to set them.
Quick answers
What is a sissy in kink?
