Boot worship is the adoration of a dominant partner's boots as an act of submission: kneeling to them, praising them, polishing them, usually while she's wearing them. Wikipedia describes boot fetishism as a sexual fetish focused on boots, and notes that in BDSM boots are usually seen as a statement of dominance. It's one of the most enduring images in femdom, and one of the best suited to a webcam. This page explains the boot worship meaning, why boots read as power, the history behind it, bootblacking, and how boot worship works on cam. In our 5 October 2026 snapshot, 23 of 31 dominant performers listed boots.

Boot worship meaning

Boot worship is a form of body worship, which Wikipedia defines as physically revering part of another person's body, usually as a submissive act. Here the object is the boot, and through it the woman inside it. Worship can be devotional, with praise, kneeling and kisses where she allows; it can be service, with cleaning and polishing to her standard; or it can be ritual, such as greeting her boots before her. Our page on body worship covers the wider practice.

English has long linked boots and servility. Etymonline dates boot-licker, meaning a servile follower, to 1846, and bootblack, a boot cleaner, to 1817. Boot worship takes that old insult and turns it into a chosen role, offered freely to a woman who has earned it.

Why boots mean power

Boots add height, make a sound, and come in materials, leather, latex and PVC, that already carry erotic weight. They're also bound up with uniforms and authority. Wikipedia's description of classic dominatrix imagery includes thigh-high boots in leather or shiny PVC with very high stiletto heels. A woman in boots like that is dressed for command, and the submissive at her feet is literally at the level of the boot.

A history in boots

Boots appear early in the literature of desire. Wikipedia notes that Émile Zola's 1868 novel Thérèse Raquin contains one of the earliest descriptions of boots as a fetish object. The Victorian maid Hannah Cullwick, whose diaries from 1854 to 1873 were published in 1984, described cleaning the boots of Arthur Munby, the man she later married, as part of their unusual relationship. In 1915 the psychoanalyst Hermine Hug-Hellmuth published a case of boot fetishism in a woman, a reminder that the fetish was never only male.

The 1960s made boots famous. The photographer Irving Klaw used thigh boots in his erotic photography, and a satirical song called Kinky Boots, written for the BBC's That Was The Week That Was in 1963, was recorded by The Avengers stars Patrick Macnee and Honor Blackman in 1964 and reached number five in the UK charts on its 1990 re-release. The Avengers itself gave television one of its most famous pairs of boots.

Bootblacking: worship as service

Leather culture turned boot care into an art. Wikipedia describes bootblacks as people who take care of boots, garments and other gear, and notes that a bootblacking session can extend into boot worship. The International Bootblack contest was first held at International Mr Leather in 1993 and split into separate Mr and Ms titles in 1999. For a service-minded submissive, polishing a mistress's boots to a mirror shine, while she watches and corrects, is worship in its purest form.

Where the fetish comes from

Nobody really knows. A famous 1966 experiment claimed to condition men to respond to pictures of boots, but its findings were later questioned, and a 2019 paper found little evidence for conditioning explanations, observing only that boot fetishes wouldn't exist in a world without boots. What's clear is that footwear is the most common fetish object of all: a 2007 study of online fetish groups found feet and foot-related objects were the most common focus, with footwear making up 64% of object preferences. Our page on foot worship cams covers the closely related world of foot worship.

Boot worship on cam

Boot worship works beautifully on a webcam. A mistress brings her boots close to the lens, walks for you, crosses her legs, plants a heel on a footstool, and tells you exactly how to admire them. Some sessions add a ritual: greeting her boots on your knees, describing them aloud, or polishing your own boots for her inspection. She sets the pace and the rules; you do the worshipping. For many submissives, being told to wait, watch and say thank you is more intense than anything physical could be, because every moment of attention is hers to give or withhold. Supply is excellent: 23 of the 31 dominant performers in our snapshot listed boots, and 26 listed leather, so the strip at the top of this page is rarely short of choice.

In person: polish and leather care

If boot worship moves offline, one rule matters: shoe polish isn't food-safe. Wikipedia notes swallowing it may require poison advice and that its fumes can irritate skin, eyes and throat, so keep kisses to clean, unpolished leather and save the polish for the cloth. For storing leather boots, museum conservators recommend humidity of 45 to 55% and a temperature around 18 to 20 degrees, warning that very dry air makes leather brittle and damp air invites mould, and that folds should be padded to stop cracking. A cared-for pair of boots is part of the devotion, and a gift of good polish is a classic offering. Our guide to leather mistress cams covers the leather look as a whole.
