Body worship is the practice of physically revering part of another person's body, usually as a submissive act within BDSM; that's Wikipedia's definition, and it adds that worship can also be part of service-oriented submission or role play. Ass worship is body worship focused on the buttocks, and it's one of the classic forms: Wikipedia's article on dominatrices, citing the sociologist Danielle Lindemann, lists foot worship, ass worship and breast worship among their practices. This page explains what body worship and ass worship involve, where the admiration comes from, how common worship is, how to do it well, and how it works on cam.

What body worship is

Worship, in its old sense, means voluntary, utter submission or deference, and also ardent love. Body worship turns both meanings towards a specific part of a dominant partner: her feet, her legs, her hands, her hair, her curves. The submissive admires, praises and, where she allows, touches or kisses, and the dominant decides what's permitted and for how long.

It isn't always sexual. The kink educators Dossie Easton and Janet Hardy describe stroking, massaging or bathing the dominatrix as forms of body worship, and many dynamics treat it as service: a foot rub after work, brushing her hair at night, painting her nails exactly as she likes them. What makes it worship is the attitude of devotion, not the part of the body involved.

What ass worship is

Ass worship is that same devotion directed at the buttocks. In practice it's mostly about permission and position: kneeling behind her, praising her, being allowed close, being told when to stop. The power is in who decides. She's admired; he's permitted.

The clinical vocabulary is more clinical. A strong focus on the buttocks is called buttock partialism, and arousal from seeing or touching them is sometimes called pygophilia. Neither is a disorder in itself: under the DSM-5, partialism counts as one only when it causes significant distress or harms daily life. And one curiosity for anyone searching the phrase: Wikipedia's disambiguation page for ass worship also lists onolatry, the ancient worship of donkeys, which is a very different hobby.

A very old admiration

People have admired this part of the body for a long time. The Venus Callipyge, whose name means Venus of the beautiful buttocks, is a Roman marble from the late first century BC, copied from a Greek bronze of around 300 BC, and now in the National Archaeological Museum in Naples. The ancient writer Athenaeus told of a temple at Syracuse to Aphrodite Kallipygos. The neat story linking that temple to this statue was made by later viewers in the 17th and 18th centuries, though, and the statue's famous over-the-shoulder pose owes a lot to restorers, so treat the legend with care.

One detail is too good to leave out. In 1836 the French writer Stanislas Famin claimed the statue was shown only under a guardian's watch, yet had darkened from the kisses of fanatical admirers. If true, ass worship has had devoted practitioners for as long as there have been museums.

Oil, a warm towel, petals: much of body worship is simply care.

How common worship is

Body worship is one of the most common practices in kink. In a 2015 study of 1,580 women recruited through kink communities, 61.2% had taken part in worship of a specific body part in some form. Body worship has been taught as a basic skill for decades; the Society of Janus, founded in San Francisco in 1974, included it in its introductory classes from 2003.

Feet lead by a distance. A 2007 study of online fetish groups found 47% of those focused on a body part were about feet. Nobody has measured ass worship separately, so treat any figure you see for it with suspicion. Our foot fetish guide covers the most popular form of worship in detail.

The forms of body worship

Worshipping well

Good body worship follows her lead. Ask what she enjoys and what's off limits before you start, and treat every touch as permission rather than entitlement. Be specific in your praise: one precise compliment about a curve, a line or a way she moves lands harder than a stream of superlatives. Slow down; worship is about attention, and rushing reads as appetite rather than devotion. And stop the moment she says so. The point is her pleasure in being admired, and a sub who keeps going after being told to stop has stopped worshipping.

Many women enjoy being worshipped more when it's woven into a dynamic. A foot rub that's requested, a kneeling greeting, praise earned by good behaviour: small rituals like these make worship part of the relationship rather than a one-off act. Our page on goddess worship has more ideas.

Hygiene and health

For in-person play, basic hygiene matters, especially with ass worship. The NHS notes that hepatitis A spreads through traces of faeces, including through close physical contact and sex, and that vaccination is the best way to prevent it; washing hands for around 20 seconds and using a condom or dental dam also help. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advises that anyone diagnosed with shigella shouldn't have sex until at least two weeks after diarrhoea ends. And if massage oils or lotions are involved, remember that cosmetic ingredients are a common trigger for contact dermatitis, so patch-test anything new. None of this is medical advice; a sexual health clinic can tell you more.

Body worship on cam

Cam sites remove the physical side completely, which suits worship surprisingly well. She poses on request, you praise her in the chat or on a private call, and she decides what you may look at and for how long. Some performers stay mostly clothed and simply talk, which is often exactly right for worship. Tips on cam sites are tokens given to show appreciation, and private shows are charged by the minute. Foot worship is the most listed speciality of all among dominant performers, named by 30 of the 31 in our 5 October 2026 snapshot, and many who list it enjoy other forms of worship too.

A word on feelings. In a 2026 survey of 2,047 cam-site clients, 65% had experienced an emotional bond with a model and 51.6% believed models cared about their lives beyond the platform. The researchers called this bounded authenticity: real in the moment, limited by the setting. Enjoy the connection for what it is. The strip at the top of this page shows women live now who list worship, and our foot worship cams page explains how sessions run.
