Nylon fetish cams: stockings, pantyhose and the nylon story

Nylon, stockings and heels, live now

See all

A nylon fetish is an attraction to the look or feel of nylon hosiery: stockings, pantyhose and the legs inside them. Wikipedia folds it into underwear fetishism, noting that some people experience sexual excitement from the look or feel of women's stockings and pantyhose. It's one of the most widely shared tastes in femdom, and one of the easiest to find on cam: in our 5 October 2026 snapshot, 28 of 31 dominant performers listed nylon. This page explains the nylon and pantyhose fetish, the difference between stockings and pantyhose, the remarkable history of nylon, and how nylon sessions work live.

Nylon fetish meaning

There's no formal definition of a nylon fetish as such; it overlaps with stocking and pantyhose fetishism, which Wikipedia treats as forms of underwear fetishism. In practice it covers the sheen of sheer nylon on a leg, the seam running up the back, the texture under a fingertip, the faint sound when legs cross, and the whole ritual of putting stockings on. For many people it's inseparable from heels, which our page on high heels fetish cams covers.

Stockings and pantyhose

The two are often confused. Stockings, in Wikipedia's definition, cover the leg from the foot up to the knee or part or all of the thigh, and are held up by garters or a silicone lace top. Pantyhose are close-fitting legwear covering the body from the waist to the toes in one piece. Sheerness is measured in denier: pantyhose run from as fine as 3 denier up to around 20 for standard sheer, with higher numbers for thicker, more opaque styles. Each has devoted fans, and plenty of people love both. Stockings carry the glamour of garters and lace; pantyhose have the smooth, unbroken, all-over sheen.

The nylon story

Nylon has one of the most dramatic histories of any fabric. Wallace Carothers first made nylon 66 at DuPont on 28 February 1935. Nylon stockings were introduced to 4,000 enthusiastic women in October 1938, according to the Science History Institute, and went on sale in Wilmington, Delaware, on 24 October 1939, where 4,000 pairs sold within three hours. When they went on national sale on 15 May 1940, at $1.15 a pair, most shops had sold out by noon, and 64 million pairs were sold in the first year.

Then the war took them away. In November 1941 DuPont switched nylon to military uses such as parachutes, and by 1943 stockings were virtually unobtainable; women painted on leg make-up and drew seams down the backs of their legs with an eye pencil. When nylon came back after the war, the result was the so-called nylon riots: queues of tens of thousands, including a line of 40,000 people stretching more than a mile in Pittsburgh in June 1946, for just 13,000 pairs. Few fetishes have such a vivid backstory of scarcity and desire. For a generation, a pair of nylons was a luxury worth queuing for in the rain, and something of that hunger still clings to them.

The rise of pantyhose

Pantyhose came later. Wikipedia credits Allen Gant Sr. of Glen Raven Knitting Mills with developing Panti-Legs in 1953, with the product reaching shops around 1959, and Ernest G. Rice with a 1956 patent for a similar garment. The miniskirt of the 1960s made pantyhose a necessity for many women, and by 1970 US pantyhose sales had overtaken stockings. The pantyhose fetish grew with them.

Why nylon appeals

Fans describe a combination of look, feel and meaning. Sheer nylon smooths and shines, catching light along the leg. Its texture is distinctive under a hand. It's tied to heels, to glamour and to a particular kind of polished femininity, and its wartime history gave it an aura of luxury that has never quite faded. Research hasn't caught up: there's no peer-reviewed study of nylon or pantyhose fetishism. A large 2007 study of online fetish groups found feet and footwear far more common as focuses, but legwear sits right beside them in most people's tastes.

Nylon on cam

Nylon is a natural fit for a webcam. A mistress can bring her legs close to the lens, slowly draw on a pair of stockings, adjust a seam, cross and uncross her legs, run a hand along the sheen, slip a heel off and let you look. She decides what you see and for how long. With 28 of 31 performers in our snapshot listing nylon and 19 listing stockings, the strip at the top of this page rarely runs short. Our page on foot worship cams covers the closely related world of feet.

Nylon also suits slow, patient sessions. Because so much of its appeal lies in detail, the run of a seam, the way light moves across a knee, the moment a shoe comes off, a good nylon session rarely hurries. Let her take her time; the anticipation is part of the pleasure, and the best performers know exactly how to draw it out.

A note on safety

Nylon play carries no particular health risk, and on cam nothing physical happens at all. In person, stockings are sometimes used as soft ties; if so, remember that nylon tightens under tension and can be hard to untie, so keep safety shears close, as a review of BDSM deaths recommends, and never put anything around the neck.
